1.8 million PVCs not collected in Lagos – INEC

According to the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Lagos state, Mr. Akin Orebiyi, 1.8 million Lagos state residents have not collected their Permanent Voters card. Mr Orebiyi said this while on a visit to the Lagos state governor at the Lagos house Ikeja, yesterday Friday February 27th
"As at yesterday (Thurs­day), the total number of cards collected in Lagos to date is 3.693 million of 5.5 million cards that we collected so far from Abuja. At the moment, we are still expecting another 430,000 cards which should arrive by next week. But meanwhile, we still have in our custody 1.8 million cards yet to been collected by residents" he said

Recovered territories: Military releases statement, shares photos of weapons seized from BH

A press statement from the Defence Headquarters below...
"Troops have finally routed terrorists from Bara, the Headquarters of Gulani LGA of Yobe State and Gulag, the Headquarters of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State in the early hours of today, Friday. The fierce fighting that preceded the clearing of towns and other communities resulted in appreciable casualties on the terrorists, the capture of some of them, the recovery and destruction of arms, thousands of assorted rounds ammunition as well as vehicles and other equipment including; Anti-Aircraft Guns, General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs), Grenades, Multi-barrel bombs, Multi-barrel Grenade Launchers, rifles and mortar guns.
Other locations also cleared in the course of the two days operation include, Shikah, Fikayel, Tetebah, Buza, Kamla and Bumsa.see more pics after the cut...

South Korea legalizes adultery

I told you guys there's something wrong with these Asian countries. Lol. From forcing people to go on vacation to have sex and produce more babies, to renting boyfriends and now they are legalizing adultery. South Korea has formally legalized adultery in their country...but not in a bad way!

The South Korean Constitutional Court at its plenary session yesterday February 25th struck down a 60-year-old law which forbids all act of adultery and punishes violators with two years imprisonment.

Twin Bomb blast in Jos this evening...

A bomb exploded at Central Motor Park, Bauchi Road, in Jos North LGA of Plateau State about an hour ago. The bomber blew himself up along with some passengers after forcing himself into a Vectra car, killing at least 20 people. Another bomb went off at the park opposite University of Jos. Motivation, Pres. Jonathan wears military uniform as he visits Baga, Mubi [PHOTOS]

President Jonathan today visited in Mubi, Adamawa State and Baga, Borno State where he met with the troops who are fighting Boko Haram. He applauded the troops for recapturing territories formerly held by insurgents. Adulterous Johannesburg couple stuck together after sex [PHOTOS]

A Johannesburg man and an adulterous woman found themselves unable to separate from each other after having sex in the woman's home last Thursday, this is according to a report by SA's Daily Sun. Troops who recaptured Baga to be given special promotion

The Nigerian Army says it will be placing all the Nigerian troops involved in the mission to recapture Baga from Boko Haram on special promotion. The promotion was announced by the Chief of Army Staff, Kenneth Minimah while addressing the soldiers in Baga today February 25th. In his speech, the Army Chief celebrated the army officers and urged them to keep up the tempo & rescue more towns.
"The entire country is singing praises of Nigerian soldiers for the bravery exhibited in the fight against the insurgents. I urge you to keep the tempo by striving hard to record more successes. Never again will Nigerians suffer this kind of large scale destruction in the name of insurgency. The war is almost ended. We will liberate Dikwa, Bama, Gwoza, Marte and other places in a few days time" he said

Newly commissioned power plant by GEJ not working - Saraki says

The 750 megawatts Olorunsogo II Power Station that Pres. Jonathan commissioned last Friday Feb. 20th in Olorunsogo, Ifo LGA of Ogun state is allegedly not working. Former World's Best footballer Fabio Cannavaro sentenced to 10 months in prison

Former FIFA World Player of the Year (2006), Fabio Cannavaro, 41, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for breaching orders to keep out of his home after it was seized by authorities.

The home of the former Real Madrid defender turned coach was seized after he was accused of tax evasion. The authorities claim he owes over €1m in unpaid taxes. They also seized goods worth about €1million as well as a €180,000 yacht belonging to Cannavaro.

He was arrested after he was caught going for a swim at his home's swimming pool with his wife and brother after breaking the lock authorities had used to lock his home. His brother and wife were also given custodial sentences. All three have appealed and will therefore have their sentences suspended until a final judgment is made.

Boko Haram kidnaps Adamawa council vice chairman

The Adamawa State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the abduction of the Vice Chairman of Hong Local Government, Bijida Yakubu, by gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, Othman Abubakar, who confirmed the incident, said three vigilante members that were with Mr. Yakubu lost their lives in the encounter.

Mr. Abubakar, who did not give details, however, said the police officers investigating the incident have so far recovered the vice chairman’s shoes.

So on page 43 of Punch Newspaper today is an advert by West Africa Examination Council, WAEC, where candidates, now born-again & seeking restitution, confessed to hiring people to sit exams for them. Not only did they confess, they also returned their certificates to the exam body! In all, 178 people were involved. Is this hope for a new Nigeria? When are you joining them? Bash Ali arrested, charged to court for constituting public nuisance

When did they start arresting people for constituting public nuisance? Lol Nigerian boxing icon, Bash Ali was arrested last week Wednesday Feb. 11th in front of a bank in Abuja for constituting public nuisance. Not only was he arrested, he was locked up in a cell and charged to court for the offence.

According to reports, the boxer and three other boxers had gone to the Nigerian Export Import Bank, NEXIM, in Abuja last week to demand for the sponsorship the bank was asked by president Jonathan to give to the Boxers Association for a Guinness Book of Record fight. When they didn't pay him attention, Bash Ali and the men allegedly created drama in front of the bank premises The management of the bank called in the police and accused the boxer and the others of threatening to bomb their bank building.

Perfectly healthy baby delivered still inside his amniotic sac [PHOTOS]

His hands and feet were clearly visible - but baby Silas Philips was in no rush to enter the world. Born still inside his amniotic sac, he has since been described as a 'medical miracle' by doctors.

Silas was delivered three months prematurely at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in California. And doctors performing the Caesarean section on his mother, Chelsea, were astonished to see his amniotic sac was still intact. Obasanjo tore an expired party card - PDP

According to the National Secretary of the PDP, Professor Adewale Oladipo, the PDP membership card torn by former President Olusegun Obasanjo on February 16th had long expired as it was signed by a former acting chairman of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje who is now a chieftain in the APC.

According to Professor OLadipo, Chief Obasanjo is over 80 years old and there are certain actions people of his age take that they themselves can't explain. Prof Oladiposaid this while speaking to a group of students who came to show their solidarity for President Jonathan at the party's National secretariat in Abuja yesterday.

ISIS fanatics kidnap 90 people from Christian villages in Syria

According to a breaking news report this morning, ISIS militants have kidnapped about 90 people from Christian villages in Syria after they seized two Assyrian villages from Kurdish forces in the northeast province of Hassakeh.

The militants reportedly attacked the Christian villages near the town of Tel Hmar in the early hours of yesterday. This is coming about two weeks after Egyptian Coptic Christians were kidnapped and beheaded in Libya.

Bomb explosion at bus station in Potiskum, 18 feared dead

A bomb went off this morning at about 11.40am at the Tashar Dan-Borno motor park in Potiskum, Yobe state killing as many as 18 people. Eyewitnesses say the bus was loaded with passengers and was about leaving for Kano when a loud explosion was heard. Rescue operation is currently ongoing. More details later.

Ebonyi State House of Assembly complex was totally razed to the ground this morning Feb. 24th after a fire broke out from the Accounts department and spread to the media section of the complex. The cause of the fire has not been ascertainment but workers in the complex are suspecting it was an arson.

IGP orders full scale investigation into death of Kano prof. who was killed after being mistaken for Boko Haram leader

The Inspector General of Police has ordered a full scale investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of a leading professor of Agriculture at the Ahmadu Bello University ABU, Prof Ahmed Falaki who was killed in Kano on February 15th following suspicions he was a Boko Haram leader.

Narrating how his father was killed, one of the sons of the late Professor said his father had set out on a journey in his official car with his younger brother and his driver to Bauchi state on Saturday Feb. 14th to see a relative. As they were returning to Kano, his car developed a flat Tyre in Fala village in Tudun Wada LGA of Kano State. He said according to his father's driver, while fixing their tyre, some armed men riding on a motorcycle accosted them and demanded for the keys to his SUV which he advised his driver to give to them. The armed men sped off with his car. Shortly after, Fala villagers saw the three men and accused them of being Boko Haram members.
