Governors from four northern states, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Sule Lamido, Murtala Nyako and Aliyu Wamakko have met with former Vice-President and one of the founding founders of the Peoples Democratic Party behind closed-doors in Abuja.
The governors from Kano, Jigawa, Adamawa and Sokoto respectively met with Ekwueme but no official statement was released after the meeting.
Reports say Kwakwanso and Lamido arrived Abuja on a chartered aircraft and were received at the Abuja airport by Nyako. They headed to the Nicon Luxury Hotel in the centre of the Federal Capital city where they were received by Governor Wamakko.
The four governors have been on a political pilgrimage across the country in the past few weeks meeting with former president Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta; former military presidents, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (Rtd) and Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd).
Prior to their meeting with these former leaders, the governors had made a stop in Port Harcourt, Rivers state to have a chat with Governor Rotimi Amaechi, where they were pelted with stones at the airport by youth believed to be supporting a faction of the Rivers PDP.
The governors, who are all members of the PDP had expressed dissatisfaction with the leadership of the party.
