Nigerian singer-songwriter, Tiwa Savage is taking a step into the world of acting, as she will be featuring in the award-winning TV drama 'Shuga'. Tiwa will be playing the role of Sade, the glamorous owner of a nightclub 'Badoo Tree'.
The TV drama will also feature celebrities who were handpicked director Biyi Bandele, such as: Beat FM DJ and Morning Rush host Maria Okanrende, who will be playing Foye , an ambitious radio and club DJ with a domineering mother, 'Oliva Tweest' actor Dorcas Fapson as Sophie a failing student who's not averse to using her body to get what she wants and Tinsel star Chris Attoh playing Kofi, a domineering husband.
Other actors include: Adeyemi Okanlawon (David) – a handsome medical student; 'Dear Mother' child star Sharon Chisom Ezeamaka (Princess) – Sophie's naïve teenage sister; James Timini Egbuson (Tobi) – a conscientious student; Kachi Nnochiri (Osaro) – PA and 'Mr Fixit' to a corrupt businessman; Leonora Okine (Malaika) – Sophie's married friend; and Olumide Oworu (Weki) – Sade's 16-year old nephew. The shooting starts this week, with locations in and around Lagos state.
