Update on Gombe Bomb blast yesterday: 19 Dead, 25 Injured

The Police in Gombe have confirmed that 19 people died and 25 others sustained injuries during a bomb blast that occurred at Dukku motor park, Gombe, on Monday. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Fwaji Atajri, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Gombe.

Atajri said the police had taken the injured persons to the hospital and deposited the corpses at the mortuary. “There were security checks at the park but it was unfortunate that the perpetuators were able to penetrate. “We are calling on the general public with useful information on the blast to inform the police and to also report any unusual movement in their areas for prompt action.



“People have been collaborating with the police and the information we received from them had given us enormous results”, he said. The PPRO said investigation into the incident had commenced but that no arrest had yet been made. He recalled that a vehicle laden with 10 cylinders of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) was recently intercepted by a joint team of Police and Army in Bajoga and urged the public to be vigilant.
