A man, Muhammad Yusuf, was on Friday brought before the Sabon Gari Shari'a Court, Kano, and charged with inciting and disturbing public peace for allegedly jubilating after he returned from the scene of the recent bomb blast in the presence of a large crowd.
Mr. Yusuf was accused by one Lawan Hassan, chairman of Gidan Boss Mechanics Association Kano, who on July 31, reported the matter at the Fagge Divisional Police station saying that Yusuf was openly celebrating at the scene of the blasts which killed about 24 people and injured many others.
Nigerian Eye reports:
The prosecuting police officer, Ahmad Musa, told the court that they received the complaint on the same day of the bomb blast and that after necessary investigation, drafted the First Information Report and took the matter to court the following day.
The plaintiff confessed to the crime and the presiding judge, Abubakar Ayagi, ruled that the court had jurisdiction to listen to the case, under Section 386, Subsection 37 of the Kano State Shari'a Law, 2000. He then adjourned the matter to August 15.
